Robert Edwards Auctions current 2019 Fall Auction is just days away from closing, so I figured I should take a moment to point out some of my favorite Dodgers memorabilia in it.
At the very top is a Roy Campanella worn warm-up Dodgers jacket, dated to the 1953 season -- the year he won his second MVP award (Auction Link). It was originally attained at a 1986 charity auction held by the Dodgers 65 Roses Club. For those who don't know, this charity focuses on cystic fibrosis.
This next item is just fantastic. On the right are three vintage RPPC's (Real Photo Postcards) of World Series games featuring the 'Boys in Blue' (Auction Link). Per the auction description:
1) Game-in-progress scene from Game 2 of the 1916 World Series between the Brooklyn Robins and Boston Red Sox at Ebbetts Field (this was the first game at Ebbets Field in the Series). Taken from the perspective of the left-field stands. The postcard features neatly printed handwritten notations in black fountain pen on the front, including identification of the Red Sox players in the field, the inning (bottom of the first), the date (October 10, 1916) and the final score (Brooklyn 4 Boston 3). Addressed in pencil on the reverse but not mailed. Vg.
2) Photo of the fans in the outfield stands during the 1920 World Series. The white-printed caption on the front reads "Part of the crowd of fans who saw Cleveland win the World Series from Brooklyn 1920." Vg.
3) Game action at the Polo Grounds. The year is unknown. A typed caption along the base reads "World's Series Base Ball at New York City Polo Grounds." The photographer's credit, which is only partially legible, appears in the lower right corner. Vg-Ex.Click on the pic on the right to get a better view.
I'm not much of a pennant collector, but the felt beauty above has me thinking I need to start. Above is a 1950's 3-dimensional blue felt pennant of the Brooklyn Dodgers 'Bum' (Auction Link). I know it's hard to tell from the above photo, but both the bat and satchel tied to the bat are separate physical pieces that have been embedded into the pennant. At the time of this posting it already has a bod of $1,300.00 on it. Wow!
Lastly, below is a 1961 Post Cereal "Alpha Bits" complete box with an uncut Wall Moon card on the back (Auction Link). Unfortunately, the vintage cereal is no longer in the box -- it had been removed and the box resealed.
