REA has a Bunch of Dodger Collectibles
Robert Edwards Auctions current 2019 Fall Auction is just days away from closing, so I figured I should take a moment to point out some of my favorite Dodgers memorabilia in it.
At the very top is a Roy Campanella worn warm-up Dodgers jacket, dated to the 1953 season -- the year he won his second MVP award (Auction Link). It was originally attained at a 1986 charity auction held by the Dodgers 65 Roses Club. For those who don't know, this charity focuses on cystic fibrosis.
Weekend Autograph Opportunity: Dodger Prospects Gavin Lux and Jacob Amaya
Here are this weekends autograph opportunities and events throughout the Southland. As always, be sure to check the Blue Heaven Calendar for other events (a link can always be found on the tab at the top of this page, just left of center), and always confirm with the establishment. Everything is subject to change. Please email me with any tips about upcoming events in Southern California. As the rest of the week progresses I'll update this post with other events (if there are any), as I become aware of them. Also, I don't always list every event below, so be sure to check my Calendar. I always try to favor free signing events over paying events. Click on any pic to embiggen.

2019 Bowman Chrome X Baseball - The Dodger Cards
I believe this product is destined for failure -- the same way eTopps eventually failed several years back. Featured here is a brand new product from Topps called '2019 Bowman Chrome X Baseball', and it is being sold as a sort-of investment grade product. Basically, boxes and cases were offered in a kind-of IPO (Initial Public Offering) setting, then a clearing price would be set and collectors would own that product. BTW, these cards were only offered through Topps partner, StockX. You may know that company as a big player in the sale of deadstock sneakers
The boxes sold at the original strike price of $50 each and five-box cases initial sold at $300. Also, initial buyers had the option of having the cards shipped to them or kept within the StockX coffers for future trading on their website. Currently, a box has a current "ask" and "bid" of $84 and $74, respectively. Cases are at $499 and $405, respectively. Go here to learn more about these cards at StockX. You can check out a complete checklist here.
Only two Dodger prospects are available here -- pitcher Mitchell White and catcher Keibert Ruiz. Check them both out below.
On a side note, I've compared this brand to an older Topps product launched in 2000 called eTopps. As you may know, eTopps provided a similar real-time online marketplace through eBay. Individual cards, rather than unopened boxes, were sold through an IPO process, and could either be shipped to you or kept at Topps for future trading on eBay. Individual card sales lasted through early-2012, and a total of 2,974 unique eTopps cards were produced. Additionally, a total of 3,986,192 cards were printed. You can still check out the eTopps website here (it still exist).

2019 Topps On-Demand Set #21 -- Reflection Baseball -- All the Dodger Cards
Here's a look at another On-Demand set that recently hit the market. It is called Reflection Baseball, and it was billed as a set, "built by fans and collectors for fans and collectors." Apparently, Topps had polled collectors and this set is the result. Go here to check out a complete checklist.
There are 50 cards in the base set and two Dodgers are represented there -- Cody Bellinger and Sandy Koufax.

Blog Kiosk: 12/5/2019 - Dodgers Links & News - Some Odds and Ends
Above is a 1950's era New York Herald Tribune press photograph featuring Carl Furillo rounding thirdbase, presumably after hitting a home run (eBay auction link). He is greeted by coach Walter Alston. Unfortunately, an exact date of the photo is unknown. It was originally taken by staff photographer Jack Frank.

- This Day in Dodgers History: In 1973 the Dodgers trade outfielder Willie Davis to the Expos for relief pitcher Dr. Mike Marshall. Dr. Marshall went on to win the NL Cy Young Award that next season. He pitched in 106 games, finished 83 of them and recorded a league high 21 saves as a reliever. In 2011 the Dodgers signed free agent utilityman Jerry Hairston to a two-year $6 million contract. He would soon thereafter retire and join the Dodgers broadcast crew.
