Betts is looking like a happy camper. Photos above via @Dodgers on twitter. Below are some notes from a Dodger press release regarding the Dodgers Spring.
- Right-handed pitcher, Brusdar Graterol, threw his first bullpen session (on Monday), making his Dodger Spring Training debut. The Venezuelan born pitcher was a combined 19-6 with a 2.48 ERA (59 ER/214.0 IP) in 51 minor league games in the Twins’ organization last season. After making his Major League debut on Sept. 1, 2019, the 21-year old made 10 relief appearances for Minnesota to record a 1-1 record with a 4.66 ERA (5 ER/9.2 IP) with 10 strikeouts against two walks.
- The Dodgers would like to welcome non-roster invitee Terrance Gore to camp. The outfielder spent last season between Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre and Kansas City. With Kansas City, he appeared in 37 games for a .275/.362/.353 slash line with two doubles and a triple.
- The first live batting practices of camp were thrown Monday by Walker Buehler and Tony Gonsolin.
- This Day in Dodgers History: In 1960 Walter O'Malley and the Dodgers completed their purchase of Chavez Ravine by paying $494,000 for the property that was valued at $92,000. In 1986 the Dodgers signed 18-year old free agent Dominican infielder José Vizcaíno. He would go on to have an 18 year career in the Majors -- playing five seasons for the Dodgers. In 2017 the Dodgers re-signed Chase "Dad" Utley to a one-year $2 million contract.
- Happy Birthday, Sherry Smith, Manny Mota, Bob Miller, Kevin Tapani, Jamey Carroll & Chad Moeller!
- RIP, Tony Fernandez. He was one of my favorite Blue Jays, ever. Per Matt Provenzano at Beyond the Boxscore -- "The lasting legacy of Tony Fernández."
- RIP, Katsuya Nomura. He was one of the great sluggers from Japan. He recorded 657 home runs as a catcher. Via David Pinto at Baseball Musings -- "Death of a Legend."

- LOL! WTF! Per Bill Shaikin at the LA Times -- "Astros sued on behalf of season-ticket holders for ‘deceptively overcharging’ them."
The lawsuit alleges the Astros cheated not only the sport but in particular their fans by “deceptively overcharging them for season tickets while ... knowingly and surreptitiously engaged in a sign stealing scheme in violation of Major League Baseball rules.” In so doing, the suit alleges, the Astros “secretly put a deficient product on the field.”

- Arte killed the deal... Thank goodness. Per an AP report at ESPN -- "Angels owner Arte Moreno nixed trade with Dodgers for Joc Pederson and Ross Stripling."A different kind of depth signing for the Dodgers.
"It wasn't all impatience," Moreno said. "There were other things involved, too. ... I just would rather not talk about it. That wasn't going to happen, and it's not happening."
- This time we get an outfielder who can fly with the wind. Via Steve Adams at MLB Trade Rumors -- "Dodgers Sign Terrance Gore To Minor League Deal."
- Tyler stays in the system. Per Jeff Todd at MLB Trade Rumors -- "Dodgers Outright Tyler White."
- Good luck with that. Via Chris Cwik at Yahoo Sports -- "Dusty Baker wants MLB to protect the Astros from 'premeditated retaliation'"

- Kyle is now a Phillie. Per George Miller at MLB Trade Rumors -- "Phillies Acquire Kyle Garlick From Dodgers." We get lefty reliever Tyler Gilbert in return.
Gilbert is a 26-year-old reliever who was the Phillies’ 6th-round pick in 2015. He spent all of last season at Triple-A, pitching 47 2/3 innings of 2.83-ERA baseball, striking out 46 batters. With the Dodgers’ crowded bullpen unit, he’s a long shot to genuinely contend for a roster spot, but he at least represents good depth, especially in case of injuries.
- The anger is palpable. Via Alden Gonzalez at ESPN -- "'It's just like ripping open a scab': Dodgers' sign-stealing anger bursts through."
"Us in this clubhouse, we're all going to handle it differently," Kershaw said. "And I think that's awesome that everybody's gonna answer these questions differently. Everybody's gonna be honest about it, everybody's gonna move on in their own way, and I think that's really cool. I think as a team, we can all be individual in how we handle it, and then come together as a team after it and be ready to go. I think the script of this, of what happened in Houston yesterday, it didn't seem as genuine. And I think over here, you're gonna feel the genuineness of what we feel. And we're going to move on a little bit easier from it, I think."
