Check out this fantastic vintage Acme press photo featuring Jackie Robinson's debut with the Brooklyn Dodgers on April 14, 1947. He is shown both at-bat and covering first base, with a man on. You can check out this pic at Hunt Auctions, here.

- This Day in Baseball History: In 1998 MLB owners approved the sale of the Dodgers to Rupert Murdoch's Fox Group. Boo!!! In 2018 Justin Turner suffered a major setback during spring training when he suffered a small non-displaced fracture of his left wrist after being hit by a pitch during Cactus League play by Oakland hurler Kendall Graveman. He would not require surgery, but would not return to the field til May 15th.

- Yeah... I know... But the Astros are small beans in comparison... Via Ron Cervenka at Think Blue LA -- "Coronavirus Taking Heat Off Astros."
- Holy Moly! Via Ronald Blum at AP -- "AP sources: MLB could skip draft; service time big issue."
Major League Baseball is considering skipping its amateur draft this year and putting off the next international signing period as a way to preserve cash while games are affected by the new coronavirus, people familiar with the discussions told The Associated Press.
- Nice! Per Chris Haft at MLB.com -- "Sandy Koufax's most memorable moments."
- Awesome! Check this out. Sean Kane, who I had the pleasure of interviewing in 2012 (link here), has a bunch of pics of some painted gloves he has completed -- including a fantastic Gil Hodges glove seen on the right. Go here to check out more of his work. Many of his items are available for sale here.
- Via Bob Nightengale at USA Today -- "Doctor says baseball can 'lead the way' on coronavirus response."
Just like Major League Baseball played an integral role in the civil rights, with Jackie Robinson integrating the sport in 1947, Rocks is asking baseball to step forward now. He is calling for the mass production of activated-carbon masks in this country to stop the deadly coronavirus.“If we don’t,’’ Rocks tells USA TODAY Sports, “I don’t see how baseball can possibly be played this year. There are too many regulations and edicts of gathering of people, and curfews past 8 p.m. in certain states. You put all that together, with the restrictions of food and gathering, and the players themselves will be fearful of playing.
