This is the best photo I've seen all year, via former Dodger GM Fred Claire on twitter. From L-R: Ron Roenicke, Mike Scioscia, Vin Scully, Fred Claire and Mickey Hatcher.

- This Day in Dodgers History: In 2005 closer Eric Gagne is suspended for two games and fined -- even though he was on the disabled list. He had been ejected on April 6th for heckling home plate umpire Bill Hohn. Per league rules, any player on the DL may not take part in any activity during the game. In 2011 Casey Blake is placed on the DL with a staph infection in his left elbow. He would have surgery and be out of commission for a month.

“They said, ‘Maury, you’re going to the Dodgers tomorrow,’” Wills said. “I said, ‘Me?’ I think I cried. I said, ‘No way.’”

“It was an honor to have [Campanella] as a mentor,” Scioscia said. “He means everything to what I believe is bigger than a baseball career … your character. Outside of my parents, brother and sister and wife, no one had a bigger influence on my life like Roy Campanella.”
- Per Connor Byrne at MLB Trade Rumors -- "A Max Return On Investment."
Muncy took his first at-bat with the Dodgers on April 17, 2018, chipping in a pinch-hit single in an extra-innings victory over the Padres. He has piled up 225 more regular-season hits since then while slashing .256/.381/.545 with 70 home runs in 1,070 trips to the plate. Since Muncy joined the big club, just 14 major league position players have outdone his fWAR total (10.0), while only seven have bettered him in wRC+ (146). He’s right there with Nelson Cruz, Anthony Rendon, Juan Soto and teammate Cody Bellinger in the latter category. Hard to believe when you consider where he was a few years back. But it’s not just about the regular season for the Dodgers. They’re a playoff team every year, and Muncy hasn’t wilted on that stage.
- Per Rowan Kavner at Dodger Insider -- "Dodgers host 11,000 fans on first Zoom party, with another to come."
“Baseball has always brought us together — especially during challenging times — and these shared digital experiences are invaluable in keeping our Dodger family connected,” said Lon Rosen, Dodger executive vice president and chief marketing officer. “One of the biggest things our players miss is the daily interactions they have with fans during the course of the season, and they value these opportunities to reconnect. We can’t wait to see everyone at Dodger Stadium again, but until it’s safe to do so, we’re excited to bring together our amazing fans, players and award-winning entertainers to celebrate our shared love of Dodger baseball.”
The #Dodgers announced plans for a second Zoom Party to be held on Monday, May 4 at 6:00 p.m. PT. Participants and registration information will be announced at a later date.— Alanna Rizzo (@alannarizzo) April 28, 2020
- Via Kyle Franzoni at Dodgers Way -- "Dodgers next big prospect ready to rise quickly" -- Kody Hoese.
Immediately assigned to Dodgers Mota of the AZL, Hoese kept his foot on the gas. In 19 games, he hit .357/.456/.643 with three home runs, 13 RBI, and a wRC+ of 187. He followed that with a promotion to the Midwest League and the Great Lakes Loons, where another pair of home runs, 15 RBI, and hit .264/.330/.385 with a 108 wRC+.He’s acclimated himself to professional baseball quite well and the 2020 season should have seen Hoese climb through the ranks of the system quickly. A college-groomed hitter with an advanced feel at the plate and the chance to be a plus-third baseman, Hoese has all the earmarks of the next great prospect for the Los Angeles Dodgers.
