I just thought I'd share this photo that I saw on eBay. It's Don Drysdale (undated) leading a horse on a motorcycle. Below is what's written on the reverse:
Triumphant pitcher now can safely lead the costly jumper behind the bike, and thereby will save dozens of walking miles a week. Training process took about 15 minutes.Photo above via an eBay listing. Below are more links to check out:
- This Day in Dodgers History: In 1991 Montreal Expos hurler Dennis Martinez throws a perfect game against the Dodgers at Dodger Stadium, 2-0. This is the first no-hitter by an opposing pitcher in Dodger Stadium's history. In 2010 the Dodgers get outfielder Scott Podsednik from the Royals for Elisaul Pimentel and Lucas May. In 2014 the Dodgers received infielder Darwin Barney from the Cubs for minor leaguer Jonathan Martinez.
- Happy Birthday, Freddie Fitzsimmons & Walker Buehler! BTW, he starts tonight's game against the Astros.
- Breaking! The Dodgers have placed left-handed pitcher Alex Wood on the injured list with shoulder inflammation and have recalled right-handed pitcher Josh Sborz.
- David Price speaks, via his Twitter:
Now we REALLY get to see if MLB is going to put players health first. Remember when Manfred said players health was PARAMOUNT?! Part of the reason I’m at home right now is because players health wasn’t being put first. I can see that hasn’t changed.— David Price (@DAVIDprice24) July 27, 2020
- I don't know what to think of this. Over the Weekend Topps issued a Dr. Fauci card through their Topps Now program, and it sold a record 51,512 copies. Not only that, the card is reselling on eBay for crazy money -- like nearing $200 each. Wow! The hype train is working overtime! See the card on the right.
- Via Liz Roscher at Yahoo Sports -- "Dr. Anthony Fauci: Marlins' outbreak puts MLB season in danger, but it doesn't need to stop."
“You just have to watch this. This could put it in danger," Fauci told Stephanopoulos. “I don't believe they need to stop, but we just need to follow this and see what happens with other teams on a day-by-day basis."
- Via Blake Harris at True Blue LA -- "Dodgers president Stan Kasten remains optimistic on season."
I don’t believe there’s going to be any panic, just yet. I think we understood there might be occasions like this, which is why we had our player pool as big as it is. My understanding, from talking to other teams, is that it’s supposed to be business as usual.
- Wow! I didn't expect this to be the answer. As you'll recall, a balloon made its way to the Dodger Stadium field on Opening Day and nobody could understand how it got there. Now we know, via a tweet from Dodgers Nostalgia:
Turns out that the balloon that landed in Dodger Stadium on Opening Day has a backstory pic.twitter.com/uiI4dfRxqy— Dodgers Nostalgia (@RetroDodgers) July 28, 2020
- You gotta check this out! A Redditor recently created a model of Dodger Stadium made completely of paper. Check it out here.
- Fantastic! The Cards That Never Were blog shares some fantasy 1980 Donruss cards, including a couple of cool Fernando Valenzuela cards and one of Ron Cey. Go here to check them out.
- Now you can have Dodger Stadium food delivered to you, via Home Plates and Postmates. First rolling out in Hollywood and West Hollywood neighborhoods. Per a press release:
Home Plates will serve Dodger Stadium fan-favorites like Dodger Dogs, micheladas and garlic fries to go along with snacks, salads, bar and dessert options. In addition to premium Dodger Dogs, items specially produced by Home Plates include individual thin-crust Brooklyn-style pizza, carne asada helmet nachos and Dodgers’ Blue Gelato. The full menu, with family party pack and catering options, can be found at Dodgers.com/HomePlates.
