That sweep felt good!
Thank you, Edwin Rios! Per Rowan Kavner at Dodger Insider:
“It’s great,” RĂos said. “All the guys, they were pumped. Just ready at all times. Be ready for every opportunity I get and take advantage of them.”Photo above via @Dodgers on twitter. Below are more links to check out:
- This Day in Dodgers History: In 2004 the Dodgers received Brad Penny, Hee Seop Choi and Bill Murphy from the Marlins for Paul Lo Duca, Guillermo Mota and Juan Encarnacion. In 2015 as part of a 3-team trade the Braves sent Bronson Arroyo, Luis Avilan, Jim Johnson, Jose Peraza and Alex Wood to the Dodgers; the Dodgers sent Zachary Bird, Hector Olivera and Paco Rodriguez to the Braves; the Dodgers also sent Victor Araujo, Jeff Brigham and Kevin Guzman to the Marlins; and the Marlins sent Mat Latos and Mike Morse to the Dodgers.
- Happy Birthday, Vic Davalillo, Casey Stengel, Chuck Ward, Johnny Rizzo, Carl Doyle, Paul Minner & Ricky Horton!
- All I got to say about the Joe Kelly suspension is that it's a joke... and an embarrassment to the league and the game. Hoe Kelly has also become my favorite Dodger. Via Ken Gurnick at MLB.com:
Kelly’s pouty face and trash-talking taunting of Correa on Tuesday night not only endeared him to Dodgers fans for life, but in the clubhouse as well.“The face he did is one of the funniest things I’ve ever seen on a baseball field and obviously it went viral on social media and now we’re all excited because we’ll have new shirts to wear for BP and stuff like that,” said pitcher Ross Stripling.
Oh... And watch Jomboy Media talk about the incident here:
- Listen to last night's hero, Edwin Rios, via a tweet from SportsNet LA:
"I was able to work a pretty good count, get my pitch and I was able to do some damage."@alannarizzo caught up with tonight's #Dodgers hero, @Edwin_Rios30 after his 13th inning homer. pic.twitter.com/5G8CspCZKW— SportsNet LA (@SportsNetLA) July 30, 2020
- A must listen. Andrew Friedman chats with Joe Davis and Orel Hershiser on Off Air:
Andrew Friedman on how the Mookie deal got done. And Andrew and Dave Roberts both share their feelings on seeing the Astros (and Tuesday's 6th inning). https://t.co/TiljC9WtD0— Joe Davis (@Joe_Davis) July 30, 2020
- This mornings Baseball America Prospect Report makes note of both Dustin May and Edwin Rios:
—Dodgers No. 2 prospect Dustin May on Wednesday struggled with his command and pitched just 3.1 innings in the team’s win over the Astros. The righthander threw 76 pitches, allowed a run on three hits, walked two batters and struck out three. He was removed after issuing a walk and a single to put runners on first and second with one out in the fourth inning. May has failed to get past the fifth inning in consecutive starts to begin the season after pitching just 4.1 innings on July 23. May in 2019 pitched at least 5.1 innings in each of his four starts at the big league level.—Dodgers No. 14 prospect Edwin Rios hit a go-ahead two-run home run in the 13th inning to deliver a sweep over the Astros. The corner infielder had just one at-bat coming into the game despite hitting .277 with four home runs in 2019 and impressing in summer camp, but more playing time could soon be on the way.
- Good. Per Daniel Starkand at Dodger Blue -- "Dodgers Have Informal Pact For Player Health And Safety."
“I think we all kind of understand our situation. We understand it’s not just going to be rolling into town and going to find something to eat. It’s just not going to be that way, and we know that,” Clayton Kershaw said.“I think for the most part, maybe other than going to grab coffee or something, we’re going to pretty much be confined to the hotel. That’s OK. I think as long as you’re wearing a mask, that’s safe. If you think about, man if I go somewhere and get it and give it to my teammates, and our season is ruined because of something stupid I did, that’s a bad feeling.
