- This Day in Dodgers History: In 1950 Burt Shotten is fired as manager of the Dodgers. Chuck Dressen, who was managing the Oakland Oaks of the PCL, is named as his replacement. In 1969 second baseman Ted Sizemore is named the NL Rookie of the Year. He became the seventh Dodger to win the award. In 1970 starting pitcher Rick Sutcliffe is named the NL Rookie of the Year. He received 20 of 24 first-place votes.
- Happy Birthday, Billy Gasparino, Jose Parra, Ken Howell, Frank O'Rourke & Pedro Astacio!
- Kyle Downing at MLB Trade Rumors shares their, "Offseason Outlook: Los Angeles Dodgers."
What stands out most about the Dodgers organization is its depth of resources and the multitude of ways in which it could combine them. The team could acquire a big name trade target by moving assets at the minor league level or in the majors (Pederson or Yasmani Grandal come to mind), or it could throw a wad of cash at a free agent. The Dodgers will probably make a push for Shohei Ohtani, and landing the two-way star would mean yet more possibilities for corresponding roster tweaks. At the end of the day, it seems likely that they’ll make at least one significant acquisition, and probably more than that.
- Here's something new. The Dodgers made a minor league signing last night, so stay tuned for a fantasy Baseball card of the newest Dodger soon. In the meantime, check out Ron Cervenka's story at Think Blue LA: "Dodgers sign ‘switcher’ Pat Venditte to minor league deal."
- Spend an evening with Steve Garvey this coming Thirsday, November 30th, for a Thuzio Q&A discussion moderated by SportsNet LA broadcaster Kelly Tennant. Go here for more information.
- Brock Stewart recently shared a momento from the 2017 World Series. Check out his Dodgers' team signed baseball on the right, via a tweet from him.
- Via Eric Stephen at True Blue LA; "2017 Dodgers’ individual postseason shares worth $260k."
- Micah's a new participant to the game Musical Chairs. Per Steve Adams at MLB Trade Rumors; "Rays Claim Micah Johnson From Giants."
- I don't know if this means much, but it's gotta be good news. Per Jon Paul Morosi at MLB.com; "Sources: Dodgers at top of Stanton's list."
The Dodgers are viewed as Stanton's preferred destination, and they are among the approved teams on the list he conveyed to Marlins officials, sources said. And while the Dodgers and Marlins have been in contact regarding the possibility of a Stanton trade, those talks haven't advanced because of the Dodgers' concerns over luxury tax obligations.
