On Friday the Dodgers did something remarkable. Not only did they hammer out nine hits for four runs (a rarity these days), but also threw their very first franchise combined no-hitter -- just the 12th ever in Major League history and 23rd no no in Dodgers' franchise history.
Rookie Walker Buehler started things off by throwing six scoreless innings, allowing just three walks while striking out eight. Following him were relievers Tony Cingrani, Yimi Garcia and lefty Adam Liberatore -- All of whom combined for five strike outs. Per Ken Gurnick at MLB.com:
"It was amazing," said Liberatore, also a recent callup. "I knew the position I was in going into that last inning. Just wanted to give it my best effort and throw as hard as I could and just get three outs without blowing it."
"For the bullpen, it was a continued momentum booster for those guys," said Roberts, whose bullpen wobbled throughout April but is showing signs of stability in May.In honor of this accomplishment Topps issued just the second Topps Now card of the season that celebrates a Dodger feat this season. Check it out above and below. It sold 914 copies online.
