No matter your viewpoint you can never truly forget just how remarkable and mystical his efforts were. Eric Gagne was unbelievable... And sure, it was all smoke and mirrors due to steroids... But still, I don't care. Gagne recorded 84 consecutive saves from 2003 to 2004, and I will never forget it.
Heck, to this day I still think back and reflect how fun it was to watch "Mr. Game Over" stroll onto the field and destroy ever batter he faced. It was glorious.
In honor of his achievement Topps has issued a Eric Gagne 2019 Topps '150 Yeas of Baseball' card. Go here to check it out and order. You have one week to place an order. Below is what's written on the reverse of the card:
Eric Gagne enjoyed the most dominant stretch for a closer in MLB history when he converted 84 consecutive save opportunities between 2003 and 2004. The historic streak included earning the 2003 NL Cy Young Award for a minuscule 1.20 ERA, 137 strikeouts and 55 saves.
