For the past week or so Topps has been running a Bracket Challenge -- much like a March Madness bracket -- ranking 64 of the top ballplayers in the league. Collectors would vote online to decide who advances to the next round. The main twist here for Topps is that the winners of each bracket is then issued a 2020 Topps Now card acknowledging their bracket victory, and it would be available online for purchase. Print runs are determined by the number of orders. Go here for a complete checklist.
Out of the 64 contestants, five were Dodgers... And of those five, four won. The only loser was rookie Gavin Lux -- Why he was one the list I will never understand. Check out all four of the Dodger winners below.
The first Dodger available (#BB1-2) is of Cody Bellinger and he faced off against Brewers youngster Keston Hiura -- a kid who I believe will soon be slugging on par with Bellinger. Cody no doubt won this bracket easily. Go here to check it out and order.
Following closely behind Bellinger is Walker Buehler (#BB1-22). He was pitted against former Dodger Hyun-Jin Ryu. Unfortunately, we are not told how close a race it was, but I suspect Buehler barely squeaked by Ryu. Go here to check it out and order.
Also making the next round is Dodger legend Clayton Kershaw (#BB1-23). I suspect he handily beat Cleveland Indians youngster Shane Bieber. Go here to check it out and order.
Lastly, Mookie Betts (#BB1-26) is the fourth Dodger Bracket card. He had some stiff competition in Whit Merrifield -- a ballplayer who has been quite good on my fantasy teams the past couple of seasons. Alas, he isn't good enough to beat Mookie -- few players are. Go here to check it out and order.
