Here's another vintage photo of Babe Ruth as a Dodger coach, circa 1938. (eBay auction link) Unfortunately, it is unmarked on the reverse, so we don't know where the pic comes from.

- This Day in Dodgers History: In 1934 Casey Stengel made his managerial debut as the Dodgers skipper as Brooklyn defeated the Boston Braves, 8-7. In 1947 Jackie Robinson recorded his first major league hit -- a bunt single down the third base line off of Boston Braves hurler Glenn Elliott. In 1955 Roberto Clemente, who started out as a Dodger prospect, singles off of Dodger pitcher Johnny Podres for his first major league hit. In 1956 future Hall of Famer Don Drysdale pitched in his very first game. He threw one inning of hitless relief in the ninth inning of a losing game. In 1994 the Dodgers belted 19 runs against the hapless Pirates to tie a club record for most runs in a game. In 2013 Clayton Kershaw struck out his 1,000th batter of his career -- the victim was Padres first baseman Yonder Alonso.

Los Angeles Dodgers infielder Gavin Lux swept his four games Wednesday night to improve to 7-1 in the MLB The Show Players Tournament.Lux is tied for the event’s second-best record with Toronto Blue Jays shortstop Bo Bichette, with both trailing only Texas Rangers slugger Joey Gallo (8-0). Lux, Bichette and Gallo will all meet head-to-head as part of the Thursday night schedule.
As a follow up, Lux faced-off against Joey Gallo yesterday and won. He is now 9-3. Go here to check out the complete standings. Per Juan Toribio at MLB.com -- "'Oh, he's nasty,' but Gallo undefeated no longer."
But as it looked like Gallo was going to cruise to another 4-0 night, he ran into Lux and the Dodgers. Lux surprised Gallo with two homers in the first inning, giving him a 4-0 lead. Gallo rallied in the last inning, but it was too little, too late, and down went Gallo.“At least I lost to the Dodgers,” Gallo said. “That’s a good team.”

"This is a poor prep shortstop class, but if Howard slides to pick 29 and gets taken by the Dodgers, it sure feels like the rich getting richer. While he has upside as a hitter, the polished part of Howard’s game comes from his glove. He’s a no-doubt shortstop at the next level as a solid athlete with reliable hands and a strong, accurate throwing arm...moves fluidly in the middle of the diamond and has the ability to throw from all angles with excellent body control and a solid internal clock.
